She still occassionally sings "peanut butter jelly time" around the house but thankfully the one where everyone was throwing up doesn't seem to have damaged her psyche!

Yes, I quite like the http://www.cocktailbuilder.com/ website I found on the web 2.0 awards list. I have a new appreciation of just how many vodka flavours are out there and am now curious to checkout the burnett range. I definitely am going to make a bailey's chocolate martini - 11 parts baileys, 2 parts vodka and 1 part choc liqueur. Yummo! Maybe even a Bay Breeze? #16 &17 Wiki

Using a wiki as a subject guide like SJCPL did was an intriguing idea to me : who got to add to it, edit it etc. Does someone come up with the basic structure and people add to it as inspiration, time, orders come? It would certainly indicate over time which subject areas are more heavily used. I am thinking of basing a wedding resources display (and maybe booklist?) next year on this wikis' weddings page.
BookLoversWiki with its review of books by patrons could be adapted to our library. We currently have an online feature for reviews but it could certainly be improved with the addition of tags etc. I think to be better accessible to some of our patrons however, there should also be a way they could submit hand written reviews for a library staff to enter. perhaps at bookchats? The featured review on flushed: how the plumber saved civilization has inspired me to hunt it down at our library, or perhaps it was having to clean up a large amount of poo discovered in the junior area of the library last night?.
I was interested to see a note on the librarysuccess wiki about vandalism problems and the need for email confirmation. Ah yes, the freedom to be prats. I noticed that on the page Management Ethics, which had been accessed 4,508 times there was nothing on it! And that it had last been 'modified' on 15 July 2005. Does this say anything about our need for Management ethics and its actual availability?
I found the following blog http://ricklibrarian.blogspot.com/2006/01/should-million-little-pieces-be-moved.html with its questions on where items of dubious accuracy (fact?fiction?) should be located and what our responsibility, if any, should be quite interesting. I also noted that my own cafe could be a good template to jazz up our own teenage webpage.

So, what's a good way to use wikis in our own library well... how about as an open forum for ideas/concerns so that issues don't take months going back and forth from and between committees?

Second attempt at loading this blog as the first one didn't save (no such problem with a piece of paper and a pen!). While searching on Technorati I came across a couple of articles on building blog traffic using social media websites, bu a 21 year old musician named Raivyn (who incidently is very photogenic). The first article at: http://www.idiotsguidetoblogging.com/2007/11/building-traffi.html was on the sites Squidoo, StumbleUpon and MyBlogLog. The second at www.idiotsguidetoblogging.com/2007/11/building-traf-1.html was on Technorati and Digg. Basically she recommended starting a blogger base with the smaller sites before launching your site on Technorati, and having a good ARTICLE before submitting anything to Digg. I think her website could be quite useful to anyone interested in blogging...I am yet to be convinced on a personal level; however, an article I read called "Thank you library bloggers", which I found doing a keyword search for Learning 2.0 on Technorati, went some of the way to championing the blogs use as a way of sharing work experiences, resources and programs. I found a good article on del.icio.us http://youthtech.wordpress.com/2006/10/15/myspace-for-parents-pt-2/ which has made me consider whether we could run a myspace-for-parents night at our library...download the info provided...its all good. As a way of keeping track of your own favourite websites I guess I can see some value although I think rollyo does this in a better way. As for the advice of tracking other users and what they view and use, I find that a touch creepy. Keep away from me. NO TOUCHY!

So, I have successfully opened a rollyo account, grabbed a few search rolls that could be of interest and created a search roll for myself. Quite possibly, I'm always on the lookout for fresh ideas for my storytelling sessions and now that I may be doing Tinies Time on a regular basis [gulp] I'm going to need all the help I can get! Plus, my daughter loves a party with a theme - fairies and elves, royalty, christmas, and just last weekend JUNGLE. About 16-17 little animals running wild through my house and through my garden, face paints, streamers, party poppers, gaudy wraping paper and food everywhere! [laugh] Ah, but champagne for the adults. Cheers.

I'll know if it worked if my husband looks at me strangely tonight!
Using the 'suggestion' feature of the Library Thing site was interesting and i could see it would be very useful for some people. After typing in "the death of grass (by John Christopher)" it responded with at least one book that I have already read, one I might have read (I'm going to check on that), another by the same author that I hadn't heard about, and three that I am considering borrowing (one that is non-fiction). Worth doing although I have been listing books I have read rather than own, as my actual bookcase isn't really reprosentative of what I like to read eg. books forced upon me as reading for high school!

Blogline - have discovered that adding a feed or blog requires a 2 step process i.e "subscribe" da de da de da "subscribe. Have wasted not a little time and now... information overload, information overload ALERT ALERT! My mission today is to learn how to delete all this information coming in before I drown in it!

Ok here i am on my first blog, with a handicap of six weeks behind everyone else on this training course (gritting my teeth slightly at the people who put me on the course while I was on holidays, and kinda wishing I was still ON holidays). Having just reassured myself of my computer savvy by having a game of freecell and fortified by a chocolate royal i am into it. This filly will hit the ground running (and other horsey metaphors in honour of the upcoming Melbourne Cup). I downloaded the goals sheet; would getting some online betting tips so can win a fortune be regarded as a legitimate goal I wonder...
